Enroute visit Dhauli where Emperor Ashoka after the bloody battle and his victory over the Kingdom of Kalinga renounced warfare and embraced the teachings of Buddha. Also visit the Peace Pagoda or Shanti Stupa built in the early 1970 and the two ancient rock edicts dating from 260 BC which outline Ashoka's detailed instructions to his administrators to rule with gentleness and fairness. Thereafter visit the colorful village of Pipli where you can purchase local handicrafts and the famous appliqué work. The tour continues with a visit to Konark that houses a colossal temple dedicated to the Sun God. Today proceed on a half-day excursion to the south of Puri where the sea mixes with the 1100 sq km inland Chilika Lake to create a brackish water lake. This lake is home to over 160 varieties of fishes and in the winter season it is home to hundreds of thousands of migratory birds, Dotted with a host of islands with romantic names, a cruise in Chilika is recommended (on direct payment).

Visit the village of Gopalpur where you can purchase local handicrafts in bell metal. Day 02
In Bhubaneshwar | Day Excursion to Puri via Dhauli, Pipli and Konark (110 kms / approx. 9 hour drive)
Today, proceed on a day excursion to Puri. Enroute visit Dhauli where Emperor Ashoka, after the bloody battle and his victory over the Kingdom of Kalinga, renounced warfare and embraced the teachings of Buddha. Thereafter, visit the colourful village of Pipli where you can purchase local handicrafts and the famous applique work. The tour continues with a visit to Konark that houses a colossal temple dedicated to the Sun God. Even in its ruined state its magnificence reflects the genius of its architects who envisioned and built it. Continue your drive to Puri. On arrival, relax or explore the Puri Beach. Later, return to Bhubaneshwar.
Day 03
On to Taptapani (235 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)
This morning drive to Taptapani. Set amidst thick forests, Taptapani is known for its hot sulphur springs, said to contain medicinal properties for many a cure. The hot water is channelised to a pond nearby to facilitate people have a bath. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 04
On to Rayagada (225 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)
Early morning drive to Rayagada. Enroute visit the Soura and Desia Kondh tribal villages to observe the tribal lifestyle. In Rayagada, visit Hatipathar, known for its waterfalls, the temple of Maa Majhighariani, the Laxminarayan Temple where the deities of Laxminarayan, Hanuman, Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra are worshiped. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is at leisure
Day 05
In Rayagada | Excursion to a tribal village in Bissamkatak (50 kms / approx. 2 hour drive)
Today, proceed on a day excursion to Bissamkatak. Visit Dukum and the Desia Kondh market, famous for its tribal craftsmanship. Also visit Paikapada, where it is believed that 99, 99,999 Shivlingams exist in and around the Paikapada shrine and finally visit Chatikona, a scenic place surrounded by valleys and wooden hills offering a gorgeous view of the waterfall. Later, return to Rayagada.
Day 06
On to Jeypore via Chatikona (200 kms / approx. 10 hour drive)
Drive to the market of the Dongariya Kondha tribe in Chatikona (set-up on Wednesdays). Then proceed to Jeypore, a convenient base for visiting Bagra, a charming waterfall on the river Kolab and the Shiva Temple with Champak trees at Papadahandi. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is at leisure
Day 07
In Jeypore | Day Excursion to Onkudelli (70 kms / approx. 2 hour drive)
Today, drive to Onkudelli. Visit the markets of the Bonda, Gadaba and the Didayee tribes (Set-up on Thursdays); the traditional Boro-Gadaba villages and witness the lifestyle and the culture of the colourful and friendly tribals. Enroute visit the Pottery and the Paroja Village at Litiput. Later, return to Jeypore.

On to Vishakhapatnam (210 kms / approx. 5 hour drive
This morning, proceed to Vishakhapatnam enroute visiting the Vishnu Temple at Simachalam. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
